TDC Mini ADV July 2024 (with video)

LMR and MotoBum hit the Cascades again for another two-night ADV, July 6-8, 2024. E-rock joined on the first day for a day ride loop with fish tacos and a brief sampling of CFMOTO motorbikes.

Here is the documentation unvideo:

The crew enjoyed fish tacos at Monroe Fish and Chips. E-rock is loving his fresh Honda Transalp 750. The CFMOTO Ibex 450 looks and feels amazing. Wow.

LMR's known secret backcountry adventure camp spot above Blewett Pass at 4,863 feet (1,482 meters) is absolutely perfect.

Favorite spots in Cle Elum and Roslyn were hit.  These places were Pioneer Coffee (Altitude) and Village Pizza.

Camping happened at Cle Elum River Campground on the second night to cool off before the 3rd day of riding in uncomfortably hot weather.

We will get out there again. We're not dead yet.

TDC Mini ADV July 2023 (with video)

LMR, E-rock, and MotoBum loaded-up and hit the Cascades for a two-night ADV, July 7-9, 2023.

Here is the documentation / experimental video:

GhostfaceKLR was seen by MotoBum for approximately five minutes. The occasion was celebrated with a bubbly water and the return of a beloved handkerchief.

Chumstick Mountain was achieved.

The TDC subset was in good form at the summit

When we were high, we rode slowly. When we were low, we hauled.

The Bus at Tahuya

Swamp Monster and MotoBum did it yet again and it was another flawless day at Tahuya. The conditions were perfect with tacky ground, no rain, and spring temperatures to die for.

The only "incidents" (not really worth mentioning) were 1) Swamp Monster initially forgot to pull the muffler plug out upon start up of his Gas Gas EC250 and 2) MotoBum forgot to turn the gas on while out on the trail on the Yamaha WR250F... not once, but twice.

A dude named Jared on a Yamaha YZ250 tagged along with the small crew coming out of the Elfendahl Pass Staging Area. He didn't want to get lost out in the wilds so asked to tag along. It's safe to say that within 30 minutes, he was both worn out and already worried about running out of gas. He peeled off to ride down Sand Hill Road, back to the gravel pit, and back to the main 'lot. That was the last that was seen of Jared.

The Bus. It was both an ideal and a destination. It was a fun target. It was an easy target. Especially considering that Swamp Monster had the location tagged in his GPS unit. MotoBum kept asking Swamp Monster "are we getting closer?" The answer was always "yes." But then when it finally was close, MotoBum didn't take the turn off and kept shredding Overland Trail.

In the end, The Bus was found again and ridden through several times, resulting in various Instagram posts and a GoPro video.

Swamp Monster, MotoBum, and Tahuya (with vid)

Swamp Monster and MotoBum hit Tahuya on December, 2 2018. How long had it been? Who knows. It'd been way too long. But all the equipment fired up and worked flawlessly. The gear was still comfortable. And one of the best Tahuya dirt bike rides commenced. Just look at the golden pictures below as evidence. As per tradition, it ended with Mexican and Margaritas.

Snow WABDR

TDC made a mid-October partial Washington Backcountry Discovery Route (WABDR) run, just for fun. With snow at higher elevations, this trek was one to remember for a lifetime! As always, more fun was had camping once the beers and tequilas started flowing freely.

01 Jan 2015 Dirt Ride

The Dirty Crew started the new year right. The Church of Dirt was attended at Tahuya, as had been done three years prior. It was the right thing to do.

Those in attendance were Ghostface KLR, MotoBum, Swamp Monster, and Guest Star 4-Fiddy.

Check out the amazing ride documentation video and interactive ride route map.

A Wet December

It was a wet, rainy December. We still took time to play in the mud at Tahuya. I had a bit of fun with the GoPros and captured a bit of it.

He's just a foosball wizard...

There has to be a twist.

After the End Of Days party in Portland, select members of TDC relaxed with a few drinks and a little foosball.
And yes, it was caught on video.

A Thankless Job

It is good to remember the fun things in life. It is nice to be able to share those things with others.

If they can't be there, at least they can watch a video.
No, the cool air, cold rain, flying mud, and overall excitement isn't the same as being there. At least you can share the sights.

It takes a little work to capture, view, and decide what is shared.
-just a little work.

Here I am preforming my camera operating duties while out in the woods having fun.

Skate Punks

Feeling a bit nostalgic for the old skate-punk days I took LMR and the Misfit to the park.

The secret skate park.
Late at night.

And yes, the whole thing was caught on video.

A Wet One

We ride the trails in the Tahuya State Forest all year. It does get a little wet in the "winter." How wet? Well, this is a typical post-ride ritual...

White Rim Road (Shafer Canyon)

After all the tarmac, it was nice to find a bit of dirt to ride in Utah.

I meet a 3 KLR riders who had also travelled from the Pacific Northwest to Southern Utah. Two on KLR650s and one travelled from Oregon on an old KLR250. Once on the dirt I was jealous of my KLR's younger, lighter 250-er cousin.

I'm posting part 4 of the 6 part "monotonous helmet cam along the canyon" video. -I figure that I won't subject you to a 6 minute helmet-cam-iMovie-soundtrack video. If you want more, it is there for you.

The Road To Canyonlands

It was my first trip to southern Utah. Turning off the main highway this was my the view as I rode into the National Park.

The Long And (not so) Winding Road

The ride from Salt Lake City west on I-80 to the Bonneville Salt Flats was a long one on the KLR. It seemed even longer heading east. I have a 16 tooth sprocket on the front of the KLR, but I was wishing they made a 20 tooth...

I-80 between SLC and Nevada is a long, straight stretch of road.
The videos don't quite capture the ride. The mountains reflecting off the smooth water pools, the salt sparkling in the sun like Edwards skin...

Four videos, about a minute each.
(I think I'm running out of iMovie background jingles...)

Starting Right

MotoBum, LMR, and I started the holiday weekend right by closing down Naked City Brewery last Wednesday.
After beer, hard cider, food, and a lot of talk of wheelies and burnouts, there wasn't much left to do but break out the video camera...

Salty Dog

I took a ride in August, a round trip; Seattle to Moab. It was me and the KLR for a week on the road.
I stopped at the Bonneville Salt Flats to see the legendary place.

No, the KLR will not break any land speed records, still, it was fun to see others speed down the salt at top speeds.

I did have some fun on the KLR just racing my own race along the flats.

Sunday Muddy Sunday

Went for a birthday ride last Sunday. It was a little wet to say the least. Here is a little video clip of Shotgun Ruthie showing us how wet it was!
